The development of an eco-label for software products - a transdisciplinary process?

Research activities are mainly realized in exclusive academic contexts, excluding social actors. However, some disciplines gain a big social relevance and thus should include nonacademics in the research process. One example could be the research in the context of environmental impacts of ICT. Hence, the following paper addresses the question if it stands to reason to apply a transdisciplinary project in the field of Environmental and Sustainability Informatics. To do so, attributes, requirements and a conceptual model of transdisciplinary research are applied to the case example of labelling green software products. The result of this theoretical analysis is that it is possible and promising to apply transdisciplinary ideas to sustainability informatics projects.
